I was using the Pidgin highlight plugin to get channel notices, however it wouldn't let you use "(notice)", only "notice" so you got alerted every time someone said "notice" in chat,
even in normal conversation. Highly annoying. So I looked at the source code, saw the reason was that it was using () as delimiters so I edited the DLL to remove them so now you can use (notice) and it works.
Download patched highlight.dll : (Patched by Maz)
/foru...9&postcount=30
ОR do it yoursеlf with a hex editor if you are skeerd:
/foru...26&postcount=5
1. Close pidgin
2. Unzip highlight.dll into plugins directory overwriting old one
3. restart pidgin
4‚ configure the highlight plugin to alert on (notice)
If you haven't already....
5. Enable message notification plugin
* configure how you want to be alerted, either window flash, raise window, present window, etc.
* make sure "chat windows" is checked and "Оnly whеn someone says my username" is checked (otherwise it will alert every time someone says something)
Now it won't blink every time someone says "notice" in conversation and only alerts for real /notices. Fuck yeah.
How to have /notices make a sound!
- Make sure you have Enable Sounds on in the chat window. (Options -> Enable sounds)
- Under Preferences -> Sounds check "Someone says your name in userchat" (Maybe uncheck everything else cuz that shit is gay)
- Make sure you have "Mute sounds" unchecked.
- If you want the notice sound to play when you have the chat window open check "Sound when conversation has focus"
The default notice sound is kind of lame so you probably will want to change it to something else.
tldr for illiterates: The way it is instructed in the wiki will flash your window every time someone says "notice" in chat‚ whether it iѕ an actual /noticе or they are just using the word "notice" in conversation. This hack fixes this so it only flashes for a real /notice and ignores people saying "notice" in conversation.
