This has smartbombs as counters to missiles, much like the initiative firewall, but it's not hellcats/BS or armor hacs, and it's not a firewall but a
"fireline". I think it will work much better than Initiative's strategy after watching the initiative video of their firewall.
Here's how the tactic works:
Muninns or
Tempests
We have a fleet of Muninns (+ Basilisks/Scimitars, maybe
Machs and
Lokis --
no zealots).
Like typical LR HACs, they align away from the blob of Drakes while killing tacklers.
The Muninns are stringed-out in a line. Everyone is running their smartbombs (EM, preferably faction). If someone is yellow-boxed or red-boxed,
they move to the front of the line.
Since the Muninns are perfectly aligned away from the Drakes,
all the missiles have to travel through the fireline to the front of the line. This is much better than a ball of smartbombs running, or dedicated ships having smartombs like armor hacs -- and it's synergistic with what LR HACs typically do. Since Muninns are shield tanked, Scimitar/Basilisk reps work at the beginning of the cycle so there's a lower chance to lose people unless they're dumb.
Not only that, Muninns have arty, which works well in lag. Moreover, you only need about ~50 Munnins to volley a Drake (even fewer if you have alpha Machs).
Muninns are faster than Drakes, so there's no chance of Drakes bumping ships out of the firewall like in Initiative's video. Muninns also have the option of out-ranging/kiting the Drakes ad nauseum. You'd have the usual Vulture/Claymore bonuses too.
