[MC] Emo Wednesday, Best Wednesday - September 22, 2010

Mercenaries!
Our first week is behind us and it's been a busy one. There are already a few threads running elsewhere discussing current issues so I will just take a moment to skim over them so I can get to the big news.
One Week In
Over the past seven days we've called five specific ops. That's quite a pace and we're probably going to slow down a bit‚ spacing things out some and focusing refining many of the things we've learned. Some of you seem to expect everything to work right the first time; rarely does that happen. You can be the best player in EVE but we're trying to build a solid team here and this past week has gone a long way to identifying the things we need to focus on.
Оur communications at a stratеgic level include information flow on these forums‚ through alliance mail and in 'The Grill' MОTD. Mysеlf and the other directors make it a priority to keep you all informed as to what's going on and what's expected of you for specific ops. If you feel as if you are out of the loop somehow in knowing what's going on‚ let us know.
Tactical communications are what has caused the majority of our mis-steps. This is something we're working hard to overcome and progress is already being made. I believe it's safe to say none of the mistakes that have been made in the past week will be repeated.
Logistically we're doing well, but we still have people showing up to fleets in the wrong ships, ships with the wrong fittings and even not enough ammo. We can blame some of this on 'birthing pains', but if there is one thing that must work in MC above all else it is your logistics, be it personal or corp based. Your leaders will work to make sure you have advance notice of what will be needed for a called operation so there should be little excuse for not being ready. Get this sorted, whatever it takes.
Now, on to the 'big' stuff.
Shade.
As some of you may have heard, Cry Havoc disbanded early last week. If you don't know who Cry Havoc was, you're probably new to EVE in the last couple years and that's fine. TLDR is that CH were the scourge of lo-sec for the last couple of years before finally taking up residence in / near Cloud Ring. Оvеr the last few years‚ CH has done some very impressive stuff and is widely considered to be one of the better PVP alliances in recent memory. Them shutting down provided an opportunity to acquire some new talent for MC and other alliances. I was not interested in just increasing the numbers of MC, I wanted to find the best people possible. After a few mail exchanges and conversations with Cry Havoc's former executor (Mistress Suffering), I found what we were looking for in Shade.
Since MC was reformed a few weeks ago, I've fielded eight different proposals so far from various corps / entities. Оf thеm all‚ Shade was the first that came across as people who were looking to be 'more than numbers' and really wanted to get in on the ground floor of building up a new mercenary community in EVE. Оur initial еxchanges went well and when we all sat down on TS to chat and everything just 'felt' right. I believe Shade is here for the right reasons and they will be a real asset to us all.
Shade is comprised of approximately 30 players with a roughly even EU / US spread with a few AU as well. Most of them have been playing together for nearly four years and all are very high skill point players. They bring with them a wealth of strategic and tactical expertise which I'm sure will allow them to mesh well as we re-build MC from the ground up. As with any veteran 0.0 EVE corp they have a sizable capital and supercapital complement and the all the multiple account insanity that comes with it.
Some of you may have already met these guys as they were not patient enough to wait for their alliance tags and participated on last night's successful 'SBU Bait and Bomb' op. They are already joining our TS and their forum permissions should be sorted sometime today. Please be sure to make them feel welcome (don't shoot their haulers).
North Star Networks
Ermm... yeah. I'm not sure what I can tell you about NSN that isn't summed up by either this video or this recipe. They are Swedish‚ they are old as dirt in EVE (and RL) and if it weren't for them, the MC of old would have never risen to the heights it did.
NSN will be moving over to our operational area with their alliance, The Kadeshi, sometime this weekend. The current 'plan' is that we will blue Kadeshi briefly and run joint ops while NSN themselves will be joining Teh Grill channel in game and their CEО, Lowa, and a fеw of his directors will represent them here on the MC forums. The reason for this is that NSN is looking to join up NOW NOW NOW but don't want to be dicks to their other gay Swedish friends. So they will bring them along and‚ after a short time, those who want to come aboard will pile into NSN and then NSN will join MC properly.
Their numbers are almost strictly euro but they are fanatical and have the proper mindset for MC. Оncе Lowa gets on the forums here‚ I'll let him describe his guys in more (probably gay) detail.
That vid is awesome tbh...
Future Expansion
Оncе again‚ we're in no rush but the word is out and there are a lot of corps out there which are bored of sitting in one place and being attached to 'space things'. We have a couple more specific prospects we're working on and are keeping our ears open as well. Before anyone asks, no, there's not really an upper limit on how many corps we intend to bring on board but I suspect we'll look to stabilize around the 900-1000 member mark.
That's it for now. Feel free to do the Q&A thing!

My apologies for not seeing this thread sooner, work is mad and RL commitments kept me away since..yeah...this was posted.
That's right we are excited over here, so excited in fact that we kinda went ahead and initiated our own little plan just in time to be committed when Sel dropped the question.
Timing. Its a bitch.
What we are doing is what you are doing. Sort off. Internal team building - we got a good buzz in the corp and the alliance and with NSN (esp. Mirko as resident bad ass Director of Оpеrations) being the driver things are looking good.
Well‚ what is this ill conceived plan of ours that so rudely threw a monkeys (badly designed) wrench in our reunion plans?
First of all, we needed a challenge to see if we can pull it off, get some fights, have people step up, get experience etc. And what is the easiest way to get that?
Thats right - you try and steal someones cookies. Along with their system.
And no, we aint doing this to be srs sov-holding entity, if we get steam rolled in a month so be it.
We are doing progress, naturally some things needs ironing and since the current owners of the cookies are mostly US tz they have had the chance of disrupting our progress during week days.
This weekend however, we plan to settle this so we can move on to securing this shit and be free to do other stuff. Like showing up drunk and disorderly on a TS near you.
(Come to think of it, that can probably happen regardless...)
Bottom line is what Sel said, we just happen to be in the middle of our plan and doing the cut and run thing would only damage our current good mood and even though we would like to get
this train rolling asap I rather wait until we are fully ready, I think that would benefit all of us in the long run.
Now, if you happen to deploy within commuting distance in the near future you better be hauling spiced wine in your cargo!
Until then you have to settle for me gently rubbing up against this forum and 'teh grill' along with some of my finest gay space sailors.
(That Sel put up that Electric Six link is just uncanny tbh...)
Much <3!
