Hit and Run Tempest (THE COMEBACK)
Lo there was a time,
When a mighty Tempest was king,
Volley was his weapon,
And all bowed before him.
Lo there was a time,
When he was layed low,
DPS was his weakness,
And all laughed at him.
Lo he has come again,
The mighty volley king!
Composition:
Tempests (20) > Scimitars (3) > Munnin (3-4) > Dictors/Inties
Tactics:
Much like the classic "hit and run" tempests of previous eras or the long range HAC of the current era these babies primary goal is to land and align out before the enemy can kill them.
The gangs can be run much like traditional Long Range HAC gangs except they offer several benefits:
When engaging an LR HAC gang there volley combined with the 1.2x tracking ammo means they will even when heavily outnumbered. A LSE zealot will be tracked nearly perfectly at 60km and will receive the full brunt of the 7k volley of rf fusion. This means that only 3 pests need to fire to volley an lr hac. Which of course translates to: less time to warp out for the enemy. Оn thе other hand a tempest has nearly twice the ehp and aligns about 20% slower.
When engaging RR BS the tempests can act like LR HACS‚ kitting the range of enemy remote rep bs. However, there much higher volley means that enemies are unlikely to be able to rep the target before it dies. In fact 20 pests will simply one volley the average RR BS (abaddons excluded). They also have longer range than an LR HAC and greater EHP as well as higher dps.
In hit and run situations is where the tempests really shine. After the so called "nano nerf" we quickly found that our LR HACs simply could not hit and run on sniper bs blobs anymore lacking sufficient DPS to kill something quickly and being unable to evade there tracking. This is where the tempest will shine again. While it can be tracked much better it has nearly twice the EHP but literally 6-10x the volley.
Docking games also become hilarious with even a small batch of tempests. Warping in close range even heavily tanked bs will be wrecked by ten of these beasts.
