Into The Danger Zone

Back In the Saddle
Lots of shit going down out here in the east. Lots of people seem to be a bit worried about the current state of the alliance, and all I can say to you is that we are rusty. It has been a long time since we've taken the offensive against somebody who was significantly stronger than us, and it appears like you failures have forgotten how to fight.

First of all, we need to pick our fights more carefully. We can't just charge in and slug it out like we can when facing smaller or shittier enemies. We need to focus on tactics. Specifically we need to make sure that when a larger hostile fleet shows up we take the necessary steps to put them off balance before engaging. This can be as simple as forcing them to engage at one of our pos's instead of one of theirs, or it can be more complex such as grabbing half of their fleet while they are separated from the other half. We performed such a maneuver Tuesday night and it worked beautifully. We need to do more of this.

A general review of guerilla fighting styles may be in need, but for now I'll just say that we need to focus on killing stragglers, killing people that don't align, splitting our enemies, forcing them to fight at bad ranges, or forcing them to fight on a pos of ours rather than a pos of theirs. We also need to be very careful with our cap fleets. With dominion coming, we need to be frugal, and we need to cut back on needless losses. Bring capitals when you know you can win the fight. Don't bring capitals when you know it's gonna be a slugfest with huge losses on both sides, unless there is some very important strategic objective at hand.

I also have some ideas on how to improve our tactics when outnumbered against a large fleet of dreads of RR bs's. I will be going over these ideas with all the active FC's I can find, but for now, I think it is important that all of you start to stock up on bombers and RR bs's. We will be using LОTS of thеm in the coming weeks. So please‚ please make sure you have several ready to go on short notice.

Stop Logging out in the station. People should be logging out at a friendly pos in X-7 in either a LR hac, a dictor, hictor, recon, or bomber. These are the types of ships that are most likely to be useful when outnumbered and we should make sure we always log in space so that we can break people out of the station if it ends up being camped before an op starts. This is very important.

Another big problem with what we've been doing lately is that we are trying to move too fast. Before we got settled in you all decided to go on the offensive, and that has hurt us a little bit. When we do a big move like this it takes 1-2 weeks for all the logistics to catch up. It also takes a similar amount of time for all the casual players to show up. The super active guys were all moved in 2-3 days, but you people forget that until all the casual gamers that make up 30-40% of our capital fleets show up, we can't accomplish as much. The situation has improved tremendously in the last 48 hours, but I wanted to make a note of this for the future.

Communication
We need to work on our communication. With all the crap that is going on right now I think it's time to bring back the Tactical War Updates that we employed at the end of the war. I'll see if Tobruk can do this. If not I'll be looking for other volunteers (active members with access to FC information required). Another thing I really want to focus on is ОP Timеrs. When you post an op timer for a pos‚ please try to make it look like this: System P-M (CОRP) Prom/Dys/Logistics Exits Rеinforced . Yes I'm sure that looks overly anal to most of you but it accomplishes quite a bit. By looking at the thread‚ the reader can instantly tell if it is a friendly or a hostile pos. They can also tell if its a jewgold tower or not. Would be PОS gunnеrs will also immediately know if they need to show up to defend their own tower without even having to open the op posting. I think this could help us alot. For hostile towers‚ it is probably sufficient to list the Alliance instead of the corp, but some indication of who owns it is still important.

All active FC's need to contact Viper ShizzIe and make sure they are in the proper channels to communicate and coordinate with Cry Havoc and SОT. Thеy will be our primary allies in this region. Please make sure you do this ASAP.

Strategic Planning
Our primary objective out here in pure blind is twofold: Prepare for Dominion‚ and have some fun. Prepare for dominion is broken down into two components. First we need to secure as much isk as possible. That is the reason for targeting the jew moons, and that is the reason for why we need to be more careful with our dread fleets. We need to be able to save up several hundred billion, if not a couple trillion for Dominion. This will allow us to meet the new changes head on and be ready for whatever comes, while softening the blow of a significantly diminished alliance income. The second objective is to have fun. Shooting jew towers helps with this since it guarantees fights. Also bear in mind that it is much more important that we retain the jewgold towers we have, rather than taking more. When in doubt focus on defense instead of offense.

Here is a list of objectives in order of priority:
  1. Every corp needs to finish their logistics. ALL hangars must have cap fuel and stront. ALL hangars need to be stocked with ammo, and the markets need to be stocked with fleet bs, RR bs's, bombers, and LR hacs.
  2. We shoiuld focus on defending our Pure blind towers, jewgold or staging.
  3. We should focus on defending our low sec towers that are being hit by IT.
  4. We should focus on hitting Cloud Ring with everything we have as soon as the enemies show signs of fatigue.
  5. Оncе we've got cloud ring back under control‚ we should start to focus on the rest of the pure blind jewmoons.
  6. If all goes well to this point then we either focus on retaking our khanid moons, or we hit Fade/Dek.

To support the defense of our low sec towers, I am now asking EVERY corp in PL to stock vehan with enough fleet bs's and RR bs's to equip your maximum number of active players at peak timezone. Please get to it. You can bill Jael for the hulls. We need to be ready for the next round of IT attacks that will no doubt come soon.

Another objective in this campaign is to get used to working on our own, or with smaller allies. As such, please do not call in the big goons such as goons unless it is absolutely necessary. I don't see us needing them for anything except maybe some aridia towers if they come under attack by a large force. We need to learn how to operate solo again. This will help us a great deal in dominion where I suspect smaller gangs will be able to accomplish a lot more.

That's about all the strategic detail I can give for now. Gotta give the spies something to look forward too...

Leadership/FC refurbishing
In light of some of the recent drama as of late, I wanted to make sure that all of you who feel you are doing some immense role for PL in the form of logistics or FC'ing should contact the most senior FC/director/ceo that is active in your timezone and make sure they know if you do not have access to the information you need to do your job. We need to make sure that the people who need it have appropriate forum access and any other channel access necessary to do what they do well.

Some of you will no doubt be rejected when you make such a request, but I'm sure there are people out there who are doing the work, but have just some how fallen through the administrative cracks and don't have access to the intel they need. I'm hoping to remedy this.

While we're at it, I'd like to reiterate that for those of you who wish to attain a higher level of power and involvement in the direction of PL need to do nothing more than be vocal about it, and be active. If you are actively helping the alliance out with FC'ing or other important administrative tasks you will eventually be noticed. If for some reason you feel it is taking too long, or you've already been recognized but don't feel like you have the tools to do what you want to do, then SPEAK UP. You can always PM me, or eve-mail me or whatever. Don't lurk in the background and let the rage build up until you ragequit.

People who have good ideas for the future should share them. People who have ideas on new tactics should share them. Do not get upset when you are met with criticism, all new ideas will be analyzed for potential usefulness, and some will be deemed a waste of time/effort/money, but it's a process that we must go through if we're going to advance and evolve as we need to. If you see problems in PL that need addressing TELL ME. I might ignore you, but there's a good chance I'll read whatever you send me, and take it into consideration for later, and possibly employ your idea. This is a dictatorship, but without the input of the member base, I would be nothing; we would be nothing. Just make sure these discussions remain logical and calm, not emotional. I don't wanna deal with a bunch of emo faggots. Also pleaser bear in mind that corp related issues should be brought to your corp leadership before they get anywhere near my inbox. Оnly aftеr they ignore you should you consider talking to me about it.

Tourney Prizes
I have not received any of the prizes yet. As soon as I do I will post a list of rewards I want to hand out. Everybody who helped out extensively will get a reward of some sort. The people who helped out the most will get faction hulls. The rest will get t3 cruisers or something similarly awesome. Final decision will come as soon as CCP gives me the damn prizes.
