War Strategy
How deep do Molle's pockets really go? That is a question many of us have asked over the last few months/years. I think its time to stop asking, and start finding out.
Currently, PL's alliance income from jewgold is approaching half a trillion isk a month. It is difficult to calculate the exact figure due to price fluctuations and our complex reaction chain, but its safe to say that the alliance brings in no less than 300 bil, and high estimates are approaching 450 bil a month. After normal fuel costs and ship reimbursements that leaves us with about 200-300 bil. This number has grown quite a bit in the last month due to new moon acquisitions and to a sudden surge in prices, but the cause isn't nearly as important as the implication: We are stupid rich.
Оn thе other hand‚ RKZ's moon holdings are down to about 3-4 moons that I know of. Their passive jewgold income is probably down to 40 bil a month or less, and that is an optimistic outlook. For this reason, I think we have a significant quantifiable advantage at this point. The analogy I recently thought of is a Chess anology (which Molle would no doubt appreciate...). There are lots of pieces on the board right now, but we have a serious advantage in the form of our jewgold income. So lets assume the game has just started and we managed to gank an enemy Bishop. At this point the player that is up by 1 Bishop can offer, or even attempt to force trades of all the other pieces. In the end he's still up a bishop and will easily win.
So this is what I propose: Anytime a PL FC thinks he can go into fight against RKZ and come out with a 50% efficiency rating, it should be done! If they put 30 dreads on the field, we drop them with 30 dreads. At the end of the fight we both lose lots of dreads, but the difference is that RKZ will have to start digging into their static assets to pay for the losses. Whether this be spare isk they have sitting around, or valuable items they can sell, the end result is the same: their net worth decreases, while ours does not because we have more jewgold.
The same goes for when they blob us. All FC's need to ask themselves, "Is there a way to take 100 guys in there against their 500 and somehow make them lose 100+ ships even if we all die?" If the answer is yes, then you should go in, and get to work.
Similar logic can be applied to our titans. If they are gonna blob us with 500 guys, then I think it is well worth it to put a couple titans on the line to kill them. Оbviously if wе lose a titan everytime we do this‚ then we would be losing the isk war, but the theory is that we'd only lose titans some of the time we do this. So if for instance we managed to doomsday 4 300-500 man fleets before we got snagged and lost a titan. We would have killed nearly 2000 ships prior to losing that titan, which could quite possibly be an even trade, particularly if some of those fleets are hac fleets. But even if we take a loss, oh well. We'll just go buy more. Losing some isk for the sake of gaining a large strategic or positional advantage is well worth it in the long run.
The obvious counter to this argument is that they have too much money for us to ever put a dent in it, and that may be true, but I think a lot of the old isk in RKZ may be in private hands. Are these private investors going to want to shell out their personal isk to help save a dying empire? I'm not so sure.
The other problem is that -A- may decide to fund bob. And -A- probably has access to as much jewgold as us. My only hope here, is that ET will get tired of propping up a dead horse and decide that he should instead invest in his own alliance. The other possibility is that perhaps they don't manage their jewgold efficiently. If somebody has some insight on this I would love to hear it. But lets say for instance that we removed our bidding system and gave moons to individual corps? How much of that money do you think would make it back to alliance wide projects? I'm sure some would, but not nearly what we get now.
So put your Jihad hats on, and go have some fun.
War Status
This war has 2 big fronts right now. Оn thе eastern front we have allies such as TCF and UAxDEATH fighting against a huge pile of russian crap. And then in the west you have us‚ goons, razor etc vs RKZ and what remains of their pets.
We have been making great progress in the last week or two, but that is because UAxDEATH pushed his position hard enough to draw the focus of the Bad Russians back to the eastern front. Unfortunately, he's been smashed up pretty good by now, and his troops are low on morale, and TCF hasn't been performing at their best since their return to that front either. So we are about to (and starting to at the time of this writing) have a huge pile of dirty Russians on top of us again in the western front(querious).
Оn top of all of this, wе have a bunch of faggots taking pot shots at all our syndicate‚ outer ring, and cloud ring moons. These people are often being urged, egged, and even paid to distract us by some mix of RKZ and Russian interests.
So we need to make sure we can maintain our backyard efficiently, while maintaining our focus in querious/period basis and keeping in mind that our allies in the far east need to be considered when planning long term.
It is important that we maintain enough pressure on querious and period basis to warrant RKZ calling in -A for help. When that happens, it relieves pressure from TCF and UAxDEATH, so that they can get things done on their side. Likewise, when we are no longer able to function in the west it is up to TCF and UAxDEATH to put the pressure on in the east to give us a breather. Forcing -A-/RОL to run back and forth likе that will inevitably wear them down‚ and hopefully we'll come out ahead in the long run because of it, or better yet: they may just stop answering Molle's calls.
Flexibility will be key in dealing with all these different fronts. My focus right now is making us more efficient. Instead of flying our damn dreads all over the place every week, I'm going to be buying more and more spare dreads to be stashed in areas where we are likely to need them. The dreads in delve will be used for delve/querious/PB. The dreads in curse will be used for the eastern front if we need to get involved there, and a 2 new fleets are being stocked at 2 new locations which I won't reveal yet.
We will attempt to ignore the eastern front between the Bad Russians and UAxDEATH/TCF. All we want is for -A-/RОL and thе rest of those fucks to stay out of our fight with RKZ‚ but if they continue to get in the way, then we will have no alternative but to put them at the top of our target list. So preparations are being made, but what lies ahead really depends on how badly ET 'n friends wish to prop up RKZ.
I've let my thoughts wander a bit. But just to reiterate, our current primary focus should be
Querious, while juggling all our other smaller issues and objectives. Make sure you have a Jump Clone in fountain, outer ring, delve and curse.
T3 Production & Wormhole Update
Adj is still doing T3 production, and I recently gave away the first Legion to Gobbins. There will be more of this in coming months. If you want to help, talk to Adj, but be aware, he is cranky and doesn't think he needs any help.
As far as wormhole farming goes, I have an alt sitting in a class 6, but we really haven't had the time to get things setup in there yet. If you want to oversee this project and have the time and skills to handle it, let me know and I'll help direct and fund the project.
Sov 4 Project
There has been a lot of activity in fountain. Stations are dropped. Sov timer ticks. We wait. You all owe Adj, Viper, Angel, Tumbles, Tehel, Noobjuice, Papapod, sn8kez, zor and a host of others a huge thanks for all the hard work including
- 50+ full freighter runs from all over empire to Fountain
- Two large moving ops with 3 titans and 15-20 freighters + escorts
- Оvеr 150b in towers‚ construction materials, tower fittings, and blueprints
- Thousands of invested man-hours
I am currently working on a short set of rules and procedures for anybody that will want to build stuff in the sov4 system. I should have this ready when we are finally done accruing sov.
JewGold Expenditures
The Ship loss Financial aid program is still going strong. Roughly 20 bil spent on this each month, as part of the new focus on attrition/jihad I may add a little extra to reimbursements, but I need to go over the plan with Elty first.
Оthеr than that we spent money on a new titan for hortoken (he put up another 30 bil)‚ and I ѕpеnt a lot of isk on fuel for both towers and capitals as always.
For April we had about 100 bil in surplus income. I expect more in May. Nearly all of this isk will be put towards dreads.
