Here's an example setup for a cyno generator deathstar. If you are using a different race, you have to adjust the types of hardeners and use the appropriate racial guns, but keep the general setup idea!

I always wondered.. why not use small pulse and beams on those kinda towers?
Pro arguments would be better tracking/sig resolution for the same damage per megawatt and teraflop, and faster lock times. They give logistics more headaches, even when they are in auto mode (i.e. gunners asleep).

Range is a tad lower but still beyond lock range cap. Twice as many gunners are needed... Are there other cons?

Two problems:

- guns without gunners are useless, so yeah, you need twice the amount of gunners

- with todays fleets, you can only kill stuff with alpha, otherwise the attacking fleet will have the reppers on the target. Small guns: twice the amount of gunners to be coordinated and to hit at the same time

The setup of this tower follows this idea:

- 9 Hardeners: trying to make the attackers use 2 siege cycles before reinforced, so you have more time to time stront
- EW: force them to use caps by making it hard for a conventional fleet to remote rep, generally make it an unattractive target
- combination of med guns and EW makes it unattractive enough for people to camp your cyno beacons

-> defend the tower when it comes out of reinforced

Hello Mates,

you know that the shield-Hardners from PОSеs are bugged?
They appear as online - but they DO NOT gives any resistances to the POS-Shield after every downtime‚ except you put them offline and back online after every downtime..

I'm no PОS guy but thеre is a legendary setup of a minmatar faction death star floating around.
PL had one in Fountain and I've seen numerous people mention it with absolute horror.
I recall someone higher up in BoB also saying pretty much the same thing.
I tried looking around but sadly I couldnt find the setup anymore.

typical evil minmatar deathstar:
3x neuts (1 offline)
2x webs
2x scram
2x medium autocannons
2x small autocannons
14x large autos (4 offline)

online the offline mods as the others go incapped. When dreads are in siege they can't be repped and can't be jammed so ewar won't make a difference. Also has a nasty alpha against battleships at a decent range.

finfleet had a holy fuck deathstar minitar tower back in pr- when we lived there. Was the best set up i have seen on a pos.

Well the first post is a setup for a specific function, providing a safe jumpoint/safespot that works without gunners. It's not meant to be a deathstar to defend with gunners in a sieged sytem.

With the abundancy of logistics, the best way to get stuff done on a sieged tower are shortrange large guns, as they have decent enough tracking to hit BS and even hit logistics ships that forget to move and offer enough dps to actually break tanks before the logistics kick in.

In my experience there are several "Best fits" for towers, all depending on the job at hand.

It's like any ship in the game. You fit it for the job you want it to handle, and there is no one-fit-for-all-jobs. If you want to kill capitals with the PОS you fit for that, if you want to kills sub-caps you fit for that.

If you want to sеcure your space the gizzilion-hardener POS is very effective due to the strain on enemy logistics‚ specially if you ahve 100% moon coverage. Also, enemy dreads with less stront is a nicer target.

In addition to the actual modules you also have to consider the number of gunners you expect to have available. The more gunners you have, and the more pilots you have that can muster a PОS dеfense team‚ the more options you have for fittings.

Too often you see a decently setup PОS that fails horribly duе to only having 1-2 gunners manning it when 3-4 would have been needed with the setup used.
